Big Lies, Viral Tweets and American Betrayal
From Putin in Magadan paying homage (with roses) to Lend- Lease, to the resurgence of the Harry Hopkins controversy, WWII and American Betrayal, to another hit of Hitler on Tucker Carlson, we're back to the future again. What gives? Some thoughts in this video here.
But there is more to this story.
Let’s pick up with that viral Dave Collum/Tucker Carlson clip about World War II here in which Collum, having just invoked Darryl Cooper, mentions my book, offers a few thoughts, and then posits the “argument” (in this same stream of consciousness) that the US should have aligned with Hitler against Stalin.
My response:
AND my addendum explaining why I brought up Darryl Cooper’s name in my response:
As described in the addendum, the minute-and-a-half clip of the Collum-Carlson interview — which, with 8.4 million views, has far outstripped the interview itself (3.8 million) — omits Collum’s opening homage to podcaster Darryl Cooper. Describing his own recent study of WWII, Collum says, “I did a mini-Darryl Cooper,” referencing Cooper’s “revisionist” (including Hitler-empathetic) historical takes, determinedly platformed by Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan. Collum then tells Tucker that “it” — his “mini-Darryl Cooper” — all “started when I read a book by Diana West” (wind swooshes out of room). Collum next tosses off, broadly, a few of his findings seemingly from my unnamed book and then states to Tucker — the “therefore” almost/rather/quite implicit: “We should have been — one can make the argument that we should have sided with Hitler and fought Stalin — Patton said that, so — and maybe there wouldn’t been a Holocaust, right, you know?”
No, I don’t know. But the point is, none of this framing comes from me, but there I was.
Do you see what happened? All of a sudden, American Betrayal was enveloped in a stink bomb of a false binary — National Socialist Hitler or Communist Party Stalin. Pick a side. Never mind they are both evil Marxian spawn. And don’t forget to breathe in that whiff of Hitlerian revisionism (Cooper).
Thus, my tweets of extrication. Happily, the entire affair has boosted sales of American Betrayal, so more readers will be able to judge what it is all about for themselves.
For the record, there are in the book several takeaways regarding US involvement in WWII. The most pertinent to this matter comes from the “German chapter,” Chapter 10, which reports on the “hidden history” we are never taught about various anti-Nazi, anti-Communist German factions, which desperately sought US support. They had a two-part mission. The first part was to overthrow Hitler and the Nazis; the second part was to stop Stalin and Communism from seizing Central and Eastern Europe. Had these anti-Nazi, anti-Communists garnered Allied support, it is entirely possible, as no less than General Wedemeyer would confirm, that WWII could have ended as early as 1943! That was before the most heinous carnage of the war and the Holocaust, and before the Red Army broke through the borders of the Soviet Union. In other words, tens of millions of lives could have been saved, and Europe could have been spared massive Allied firebombing and ultimate Communist capture and enslavement. The West would truly have won the war; not the Communists.
However, it turns out that these anti-Nazi, anti-Communist German efforts were quashed by the secret Soviet agents and pro-communists inside our own government (evidence points to White House aides Lauchlin Currie and Harry Hopkins, among others). No matter the cost in blood and treasure, these agents secretly aided Stalin’s takeover of Europe and later Mao in China. Most of these anti-Nazi, anti-Communist Germans would be executed by Hitler, or, following his downfall, hunted down by the Red Army. To this day, our understanding of these and many other such matters continues to be blocked, thwarted by “expert” acolytes on the Left/Right.
One more comment: Collum invokes “the right hand man” of President Roosevelt — the unnamed Harry Hopkins — and calls him a “Soviet spy.” Twice.
“Certainly was,” agrees Tucker Carlson in earnest-mode. “Confirmed, confirmed.”
But Hopkins was not a mere “spy,” and his status isn’t “confirmed, confirmed,” as if his name appears on a master list. Nonetheless, it is my belief that the extensive dossier and expert analysis on Hopkins assembled in American Betrayal makes a convincing case that he served Stalin, not as a thief of secrets (“spy”), but rather as a cataclysmically successful “agent of influence” at FDR’s side. Meanwhile, hundreds of other secret agents were cycling into and around Washington. By the 1940s, a Soviet intelligence army of at least 500 (Haynes & Klehr) to 1000 (Mitrokhin) agents “occupied,” as I wrote, the bureacries in and around the nation’s capital. With huge, parallel communist networks inside academia, industry, religion, arts, law, media, science, etc., they would drive forward the communist destruction of our culture, our country, and the wider world, protected by what has become Stalin’s eternal psy-op: the false cry of “McCarthyism.”
It was Whittaker Chambers who best encapsulated the significance of the “agent of influence”: “That power to influence has always been the ultimate purpose of the Communist Party’s infiltration,” he wrote. “It was much more dangerous, and, as events have proved, much more difficult to detect than espionage, which beside it is trivial, though the two go hand in hand.”
It is this evil influence — communist influence — that is the crux of both “American Betrayal,” the book, and American betrayal, the catastrophe.

Diana
Thanks for correcting the record. Your comments are very close to my family. Helmuth Von Moltke created the kreisau group in Germany to push for a democratic government rejecting Nazism and communism. His widow was a very dear friend of my grandfather who taught from 1933 to 1960 at Dartmouth. She lived with my grandfather in Norwich his prewar pfrom 1958 having left Germany as her husband was murdered by the Nazis for being part of the 1944 plot to kill hitler. She lived in my grandparents home in Norwich until her passing at age 99. She was my dearest friend in the world. Her book LETTERS TO FREYA reveal Helmuths plans for a democratic Germany and his view that indeed the sooner Patton got to Berlin the better.
Congratulations Diana on a great week for "American Betrayal"!
I read the book in 2020 after the plandemic was announced. I have recommended the book to many people; predictably, just a few have purchased it and fewer have actually read it. It is an amazing book that truly changed my perspective, in a very positive way, about the world and people.
As you mentioned near the end of the video in today's post, it truly is "a party line". That line appears to exist concerning things like deadly mRNA shots, in my opinion. I have a science background and I tried to convince friends and neighbors that no educated person would ever consider getting injected with a shot that has zero science behind it, let alone known cancer promoters in it. ( See Kevin McKernan's presentation to New Zealand ). In fact, the most "educated" people I know (PhD, etc.) are the family members who have received every "booster"!
I am purchasing another copy of "American Betrayal" today. We are currently in southern Maine living in our camper; it's time to re-read it and continue spreading the word. Thanks for all your amazing work! One question - do you think that DianaWest.net will ever return? I used to visit the site frequently. Thanks again!
Peace.
