The doctrine, the messaging doesn't change

The late David Horowitz was still openly aligned with the communist movement in 1974 when he engaged in the following provocation, reported by the Berkeley Gazette on November 19, 1974. As a reliable source of the mass line of the day, Horowitz’s rhetoric — for example, “A people was displaced in the creation of Israel — the Palestinians” — is notable for demonstrating how the Marxist (Soviet, New Left, Socialist, Alinskyite, Maoist) line has not changed in half a century.

Another item.

Alice Widener was an expert on communist movements in America. Recently perusing her 1970 book, Teachers of Destruction: Their Plans for a Socialist Revolution, I picked up with her coverage of a conference of “Socialist Scholars” (read: Revolutionary Marxists) at Rutgers University in September of 1968. What I was not expecting in her account of Prof. Eugene Genovese’s lecture, “Black Power and Socialism,” was a Genovese’s slap at “the Zionist bund” — as in the following: Widener wrote that Genovese said America uses “ `the same terrorist methods against black nationalists that the Zionist bund uses,’ and said, White America must be restructured if Black America is to be free.”

Always the same can’t, isn’t it? I wonder if Widener would be shocked at how far Genovese & Co. were able to go in destroying — “restructuring” — our Constitution and people. Of course, it’s still not enough for the Revolution.

Widener was quite struck by Genovese’s “Zionist bund” allusion, and she went on expertly to trace its provenance:

Genovese used the exact terminology in the uncensored edition of Joseph Stalin’s Marxism and the National and Colonial Question, which contains two chapters on the Jewish question, and defines Zionism as “a reactionary, rightist political bund movement.” To Leninist-Stalinists, all nationalist movements are “fascist” except those directed by Communists and set up for the sole purpose of leading a nation or minority group into absorption by the Communist bloc. … The Communist attitude toward Zionism has nothing to do with pro- and anti-Semitism, or with pro- or anti-Zionism; the attitude has only to do with orthodox Marxist-Leninist-Stalinism on the national and colonial question, an attitude now dominating the Soviet Union’s political moves in the Middle East, and in every other region of the world beyond the borders of the USSR, including Soviet policy on Black nationalism within the UnitedStates and in the Caribbean area.

Even behind half a century’s overgrowth, how firmly the basic Stalinist framework holds today.
